He won Second Prize for the BMI Film Composers Competition with his music for Flowers Falling which he also conducted with the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra. He has composed 25 symphonies and 10 string quartets plus many other works and his entire catalogue totals more 600 works for orchestra and various ensembles. In September 1996, his Rhapsody for Flute and Piano was performed by Peter Allen and Patricia Creighton and aired by the CBC. Since August of 1998, his Three Sketches for Orchestra was performed with high acclaim by the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra until it was finally released on CD in 2003. His Celtic Power for Orchestra was performed by Symphony Nova Scotia in November 2001 and In Memoriam (dedicated to Tara Tousenard) was performed by the Acadia Symphony. Many of his other compositions including Tragedy (for viola, clarinet and piano) and Sorrows (for viola and piano) have been recorded and produced on CD.
